What is "Independent manufacturers"?
KNX is an open system, ie. any manufacturer (which is KNX member) can develop products as long as they meet set requirements. This means that there is no single supplier who "owns" the system.

Benefits
The advantages of vendor independence is great. Since there are a large number of suppliers / manufacturers competition between the products is established. In addition, KNX future safe when the development does not depend on a single company.

Ensured functionality
Different products from different manufacturers must be able to communicate with each other. This is ensured through the certification of each individual product.
